Daybook: Islamic Center Vandalism And Medical Malpractice

Good morning! Here are a few of the stories we'll be following throughout the day:

  • It's the last day for standing committee hearings and lawmakers will try again to make progress on an overhaul of the state's medical malpractice system. Drew Daudelin covered the debate earlier this session that ended in legislators not being able to reach an agreement.  You can follow Drew as he covers today's hearing: @DrewDaudelin

    • There are only eight days left in the session and lawmakers have a lot left to accomplish. Our statehouse reporter Brandon Smith has a packed agenda. He'll be covering the last meeting of the House Ways and Means Committee this session. Three items of interest he'll be watching: Regional Cities, daily fantasy sports, and road funding. Follow Brandon on Twitter @BrandonJSmith5  for updates. 

      • The Islamic Society of Indianapolis is holding a press conference this morning after the center was vandalized this weekend. Someone spray painted  racial slurs on the building. The center reported the vandalism to the FBI as a hate crime.
