Fire Department Instructor Conference Comes To Indianapolis

Expect to see a lot of fire trucks and firefighters in downtown Indy this week. About 35,000 firefighters will be in town for the Fire Department Instructor Conference. Vendors will set up shop in the Convention Center -and Lucas Oil Stadium.

Greenwood Fire Chief James Sipes says companies from around the country are on hand showing off their latest products.

Sipes says the conference will have "classroom sessions, hands on opportunities from world class instructors in order to improve the ability for firefighters to respond and be safe out there."

The convention officially gets underway with an opening ceremony Wednesday morning at 8 -- and runs through Saturday.
