Two more deaths in Indiana are linked to vaping-related illness according to a news release from the state health department.
Indiana is investigating 75 cases of severe lung injury linked to vaping. State officials say this number has doubled in the past month.
Three people have now died in Indiana since Sept. 6. In a statement State Health Commissioner Kristina Box highlighted THC products.
“These deaths are heartbreaking,” said Box. “I urge anyone who is using these products to consider stopping, especially if you are vaping THC.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the latest national and regional findings suggest products containing THC play a role in the outbreak.
The CDC reports more than 1,000 lung injury cases linked to vaping across the country. As of Oct. 8, 26 deaths have been confirmed by in 21 states.
