I-69 Contractor Accuses State Of Giving 'Incorrect Information'

A contractor working on I-69 between Bloomington and Martinsville, Indiana says the state has given incorrect information about delayed contractor payments and construction delays.

State officials have threatened to find I-69 Development Partners LLC in default of its contract to upgrade 21 miles of the highway, saying it owes more than $9 million to construction companies.

However, in a statement released Thursday, Isolux Corsan, which was hired to build the segment, says it has encountered geological and permitting issues, which it has brought to the attention of the Indiana Finance Authority. The company says it has asked the state for consideration for extra work costs and possibly a deadline extension due to factors beyond its control.

The Indiana Finance Authority issued a notice of non-performance to I-69 Development Partners on Tuesday.
