One week after two tornadoes caused significant damage in Kokomo, the American Red Cross Shelter will transition into a Red Cross Service Center.
More than 200 displaced Kokomo residents stayed at the temporary shelter since last Wednesday, but Red Cross officials say those residents have now moved on.
"We have done great work throughout the past week, and I am very proud to be part of this team," said Chad Priest, regional chief executive officer for the Indiana region of the Red Cross, in a statement. "But we know the work for the Red Cross is not yet finished, as we move toward the next phase in the coming weeks and months."
The Red Cross Service Center will operate from the Kokomo Event & Conference Center, working with clients on an individual basis for disaster relief.
