The master plan of Lake Monroe serves to guide the comprehensive management, development and use of the lake for recreation, natural resources and cultural resources.
The Army Corps of Engineers has drafted an updated plan that it says is based on regional and local needs. There has only been one Master Plan since the original was approved in 1967.
"It's a good idea to look at where you are, and look at the past plans and look at where you want to go in the future," says Ginger Murphy of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. "So, we commend the corps of engineers for taking that approach, and look forward to seeing the results"
The DNR has submitted comments on the plan and the public is encouraged to submit, as well. The deadline to submit comments is January 14.
