Rival 'Corpse Flowers' Could Bloom Before IU's Plant

The infamous corpse plant at the Indiana University Jordan greenhouse has at least two competitors, according to NPR.

Plants at the New York Botanical Garden in New York City and the United States Botanical Garden in Washington, D.C. are expected to bloom any day.

The Amorphophallus titatum plant takes a long time to bloom; the one in Bloomington has been in the IU greenhouse since 2007 and has never bloomed. The Washington, D.C. plant is six years old and hasn't bloomed even once.

The bloom at Jordan Greenhouse has been anticipated for weeks, and the plant has grown drastically in recent days.
