New Symposium Celebrates Art, Architecture In Columbus

The city of Columbus is celebrating its architecture this year with the inaugural "Foundations and Futures" symposium.

Columbus is known for its architecture. Director of Marketing with the Columbus, Indiana area Visitors Center, Erin Hawkins says the art and architecture of Columbus is often a draw for tourists.

"We get a lot of people coming into town who want to check out our architecture and also our public art," she says.

Director of Landmark Columbus, Richard McCoy help organize the symposium to celebrate the city's history and inspire new innovations in art and architecture.

"The goal of the symposium really is to start a new dialogue in Columbus about some of the history that's here, some of things that built this community with internationals experts that come in to talk about the history and at the same time community leaders that helped build and maintain some of the projects that are in town," he says.

Next year, Columbus will host 15 temporary art and architecture installations as their "Exhibit Columbus" programming.
