Former VCSC Employee Facing Fraud, Bribery Charges In Court Today

Frank Shahadey is in court this afternoon. He's the Vigo County Sheriff's deputy facing federal charges of theft or bribery.

The FBI says he and former facilities support and transportation director Frank Fennell took thousands of dollars in kickbacks by inflating vendor contracts with the Vigo County School District – where both men also held positions.

The FBI arrested Fennell and Shahadey Wednesday.

Fennell was released on his own recognizance but Shahadey is still in federal custody. His detention hearing is at 12:30 p.m. today in Indianapolis. The charges the men faces could carry up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
