Bloomfield Apple Festival To Feature Beer Garden For First Time

For the first time in its nearly 50-year history, the Bloomfield Apple Festival will feature a beer garden.

The change comes as the small town watches one of the fixtures in its community undergo major renovations. Holtsclaw Standard feed store closed last year after nearly 80 years in business. Steve Corbin and his wife bought the building on Indiana 54 and are transforming it into a brewery.

Feed Store Brewing Company will host the festival's beer garden next to its building and Corbin says it will have a local focus.

"We can't sell our beer yet so we are giving away samples to people that are of legal age and we are selling pints of all Indiana local craft beers and ciders," Corbin says.

Corbin says there's still a lot of work left to do to the building, but he's hopeful the brewery will open during the first quarter of 2018. The Apple Festival runs through Saturday.
