A new film from local production company Pigasus Pictures will debut this weekend at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater.

The film, Ms. White Light, is also featured in the Heartland International Film Festival.

The film stars Judith Light and John Ortiz and follows a young woman who counsels terminally ill patients that have a hard time letting go. It was filmed entirely in Bloomington.

“There’s not a lot of full humanity when you see that in film a lot, and I wanted to show that side of it,” says director Paul Shoulberg, who lives in Brown County.

Pigasus Pictures began its business three years ago in Bloomington and has already produced two award-winning feature-length films, one of which is  The Good Catholic

Producer John Armstrong believes the support from a small town like Bloomington gives the company the ability to compete with largescale film markets.

“With the rise of online digital platforms there’s a place for companies like ours to really play in the space,” he says.

Showings of Ms. White Light begin at the Buskirk-Chumley Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week. There are additional shows Saturday afternoon, Sunday morning and evening.
