Family Moving Forward With Lawsuit Against Notre Dame

A Maryland family is seeking damages in a lawsuit they filed against the University of Notre Dame on behalf of their son, who they say was injured while attending one of the university's football camps in 2013.

The family of John-Vincent Louis held a press conference today, ahead of a hearing in St. Joseph County Superior Court tomorrow. The court will hear a motion to dismiss the Louis' case.

Louis tore a ligament in his knee while running drills on a football field at the university, according to court documents. Dr. John Louis, the student's father, claims the injury was a result of poor maintenance of the field, which was under construction at the time. Dr. Louis says the camp physicians also failed to properly take care of Louis after the fact.

"We did not send our son off to camp to have staff ignore him in a time of crisis, which Notre Dame staff did repeatedly," Dr. Louis said.

Chad Klunder, the athletic director at the time of the incident, and Jason Michelson, the assistant camp director, are also named as defendants in the case.

Representatives for the University of Notre Dame said in an email they can't comment on pending litigation.
