Voting Supplier With Indiana Contracts Targeted In Russian Hacking

A leaked National Security Agency report says Russian intelligence attempted to hack a voting software supplier with contracts in Indiana and several other states.

VR Systems has contracts in six Indiana counties including Cass, Floyd, Montgomery, Vanderburgh, Vigo and Wayne Counties.

The Florida-based company does not supply voting machines or tabulate results, but they do provide electronic poll books.

Indiana Secretary of State Communications Director Valerie Warycha says poll books contain very little personal information on voters.

"A traditional poll book, as many people are probably aware of, is just your name, your address and what ballot to give you, and in some cases, the date of birth," Warycha says.

Warycha says at this time, the Indiana Election Commission does not believe any information or election outcomes were compromised in the attempted hacking.
