The Utilities District of Western Indiana that has been plagued with problems including allegations of money mismanagement has a new leader at least temporarily.
The board has hired Dan Arnold as interim CEO.
Arnold has 42 years experience as CEO of the Johnson County and then Orange County REMCs.
Arnold, who retired from Orange County in 2015, will manage day-to-day operations of the co-op while the board conducts a search for a permanent CEO.
The board voted last month to terminate UDWI CEO Brian Sparks – saying only that he "did not fulfill management expectations."
Prior to that he'd been on paid leave so internal auditors could investigate the co-op's finances without fear that Sparks would influence the process.
In addition to the audit, the FBI is also investigating UDWI.
Here's a complete timeline of the history of UDWI, including the investigations in the co-op's expenses.
