Indiana University Kelley School of Business Dean Idalene Kesner has warned students of the consequences of violating COVID-19 safety precautions.

In an email sent Thursday, Kesner said “We urge you to read this note carefully and completely to avoid jeopardizing your future Kelley career.”

It said breaking the Student Commitment Form, IU Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities and Conduct, or state, county or city health orders could lead to sanctions.

These sanctions include loss of access to Undergraduate Career Services for a year or more, permanent loss of ability to study abroad through IU or Kelley, permanent loss or future membership in the Kelley Honors Program and/or any Kelley Workshops, loss of leadership positions in any IU or Kelley student organizations, and loss of privileges to participate in Kelley ceremonies, including graduation.

Kesner said each case would be reviewed by a committee and appropriate sanctions would be considered as each case is different.

“It is always my hope when a student signs a student commitment form, they would abide by it,” Kesner said. “I understand this is not the college experience that everyone imagined.”

She said the goal is to keep everyone safe.
