All IU Bloomington students, faculty and staff who are regularly on campus will be required to get an annual flu vaccine by December 1st.
Proof will be required that you have been vaccinated either at one of the campus clinics or elsewhere.
If you do not want to get a vaccine for religious reasons or otherwise, an exemption form is available at fall2020.iu.edu and is also due by December 1st.
Chuck Carney is IU’s spokesperson and director of media relations.
“We do flu shot clinics every year. This is something that is a point that we emphasize every year that everybody needs to get a flu shot. This year there’s just an added emphasis because of the pandemic,” he said.
The location of the on-campus clinics has not been decided yet.
“We are trying to make sure we have a lot of vaccines available of course especially because we are not just simply suggesting we are requiring that vaccine to happen,” he said.
Carney said penalties for those who refuse to get a vaccination or fill out an exemption form could go up to dismissal or expulsion.
“We want people to do what they need to do to keep everybody healthy or explain why in their case they can’t make this happen,” he said.
