Lee Jones won a new term on the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners.

Jones, a Democrat, won the seat by more than 5,211 votes over Republican challenger Perry Robinson.

Jones has served as county commissioner for more than three years and, during her campaign, said this will be her last term. She has pledged to work for criminal justice reform, responsible housing development, and greater voting access, according to her Facebook page.

The Board of Commissioners’ duties include overseeing county property, including roads and bridges, and making appointments to county boards and commissions, according to the county’s website.

The Monroe County Council awarded commissioners an $11,000 raise in 2023, in keeping with their status as executives within county government. Jones will earn an annual salary of about $60,000.
