Representatives from FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, met with state and local leaders in Sullivan Thursday morning to tour recovery efforts after devastating storms in March.
FEMA reported over $8.3 million have been distributed to Hoosiers in the wake of the storms and over 2,000 people have applied for help.

The Small Business Administration said it has also approved over $7.6 million in disaster loans to families and businesses.
Leyla Gulen is a media relations specialist for FEMA. She said that money should go toward rebuilding the community, and recovery planning means allowing people to build new lives near their old ones.
“We want to make sure that people get to stay near close there to where they live before and continue to live their lives as much as they were prior to the storm,” Gulen said.
Storm survivors in Indiana have until June 14 to apply for federal assistance.
Until then, three disaster recovery centers remain open:
Sullivan
110 North Main St.
Whiteland
999 North Front St.
Martinsville
1749 Hospital Dr.
Those who lost property have four ways to submit a request: through FEMA’s website, on its app, at a recovery center, or on the phone. The number to call is 800-621-FEMA.
Applications submitted after June 14 will not be considered.
