The Writers Guild at Bloomington presents Last Sunday Poetry, featuring Susan Michele Coronel and Doris Jean Lynch.
SUSAN MICHELE CORONEL lives in New York City. A two-time Pushcart nominee, her poems have been published in numerous journals including MOM Egg Review, Redivider, One Art, Anti-Heroin Chic, TAB Journal, The Ekphrastic Review, Spillway 29, and Plainsongs. Her first full-length collection, In the Needle, A Woman (Finishing Line Press, 2025), was the winner of the 2024 Donna Wolf Palacio Poetry Prize. In 2023, she won the Massachusetts Poetry Festival’s First Poem Award, and in 2021, she received a Parent Poet Fellowship for the summer conference at Martha’s Vineyard Institute for Creative Writing. She holds an M.S. Ed. in Applied Linguistics from the City University of New York (Queens College) and a B.A. in English from Indiana-University Bloomington.
DORIS JEAN LYNCH’s first full-length book of poems, Swimming to Alaska, was published in 2023 by Bottom Dog Press. Her collection of haibun, Meteor Hound, was also released that year. She has won awards from the Poetry Society of America, Indiana Arts Council, Alaskan Council on the Arts, Chester H. Jones Foundation, and Haiku Society of America, among other organizations. In her twenties, she spent a school year in the Inupiat village of Kivalina above the Arctic Circle, and later lived for a year in Java, Indonesia, with her husband and two children. She has recent work in Flying Island, Calyx, Modern Haiku, Frogpond, contemporary haibun online, I-70 Review, Tipton Poetry Review, and other journals.
