Ways to stay cool in Monroe County this weekend

The DNR says pools opening as scheduled are at Clifty Falls, McCormick’s Creek, O’Bannon Woods, Shakamak, and Versailles state parks and at Lieber State Recreation Area.

Admission to Bloomington city pools is free on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays when the projected AccuWeather Real Feel is 90 degrees or higher.

A heat advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. Friday, with a heat index around 105 degrees in south-central Indiana.

In Monroe County, residents and visitors have several free options to beat the heat including free swimming and cooling stations.

Admission to Bloomington city pools is free on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays when the projected AccuWeather Real Feel is 90 degrees or higher.

The Bryan Park and Mills pools are open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Additionally, Monroe County operates eight cooling stations. They’re set to remain open through next Tuesday, at least.
