U.S. Representative Trey Hollingsworth says he’s worried about using Department of Defense funds to address the border crisis.
Hollingsworth spoke to the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce Monday at the Indiana University Memorial Union. He talked about the economy, immigration and the president’s declaration of a state of emergency.
Hollingsworth says he doesn’t think border funding should be determined by just the president, but weighed publicly through legislators.
“The D.O.D was planning to use that money for clear and present dangers to this country. And I think it will come down to, a question of will that priority, what we were going to spend that money on, versus the priority of securing our southern border - that needs to be weighed,” Hollingsworth says.
Hollingsworth also took questions about rural broadband, the media, and bipartisanship.
Hollingsworth started his second term as U.S. Representative earlier this year.
