The Kiwanis Indiana Balloon Fest takes flight at the Monroe County Fairgrounds this weekend after a one-year hiatus.

The Kiwanis Club of South-Central Indiana had to cancel the annual event last year due to severe weather caused by a tropical storm.

The Balloon Fest includes giant hot air balloons, a giant kite exhibit and helicopter rides as well as fair favorite foods. Visitors can enjoy live music, balloon launches and corndogs all why sitting underneath the balloons.

Trent Wilkes sells food at the event every year, which is the Kiwanis Club’s biggest fundraiser. His favorite part about participating in this fair every year is the cause that it raises money for.

“…its all for a good cause. All the proceeds from this benefit the children at Riley. So come out and have a great time, a great weekend and help the kids at Riley. It’s all for a good cause,” he says.

The event runs from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $20 per car.
