Bloomington city officials say they’re a month away from opening Switchyard Park despite a lot of ongoing construction and acres of dirt yet to be covered with sod.
Deputy Mayor Mick Renneisen says most of the main facilities will be in place at that time, but more work will need to be done to finish the project.
“90% or more of the facility will be ready and open on November 2 and 3," Renneisen says.

He also said it will take some time to get the roughly 600 or so trees planted in the park. The park will have a pavilion, a skate park, community gardens and a splash pad. Renneisen says it’s the biggest park in the parks system’s history.
