Japanese-owned automotive manufacturer Subaru says it's making a multi-million dollar expansion in Indiana.
Subaru said Monday it will invest more than $140 million to increase production capacity at its assembly plant in Lafayette, creating more than 1,200 jobs in the Hoosier State by 2017.
"Last week, executives at Subaru's parent company told us they are choosing to locate 1,200 new jobs in Indiana because of the long-term relationships we've developed and the business climate we've built," Gov. Mike Pence said in a statement.
The announcement comes just after the governor's week-long trade mission to Japan.
A release from Pence's office says the Indiana Economic Development Corporation has offered Subaru up to $7.65 million in conditional tax credits, and Lafayette and Tippecanoe County will consider additional incentives for the automaker.
