WFIU aired a special, one-hour live show Tuesday morning discussing President Donald Trump's recent executive order concerning immigration.
The recent order includes a 120-day ban on all refugees and on nationals from seven predominantly Muslim countries, as well as an indefinite ban on Syrians who wish to enter the United States.
Opponents of the ban claim that it is religious discrimination and is in violation of multiple U.S. laws.
Our guests discussed how this order is impacting the community, what is being done to challenge it, and what precedents this action might set for the executive branch.
Guests:
David Fidler, Professor at the IU Maurer School of Law who specializes in international law with an emphasis on security issues
Hazem Bata, Secretary General for the Islamic Society of North America
Jane Henegar, Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana
Ali Syed, Muslim Alliance of Indiana
