Four people charged in a 9-year-old Indiana boy's starvation death now face additional charges after an autopsy found methamphetamine in his system.
Cameron Hoopingarner's two guardians and two other people originally were charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death and other counts.
But prosecutors filed additional drug-related charges against them Monday after test results found the boy, who had cerebral palsy, had meth in his system.
Forensic pathologist Dr. Roland Kohr tells the Tribune-Star the drug entered the boy's system as it was used by the people who "were supposed to be caring for him."
Hoopingarner weighed only 15 pounds when officers found the dying boy Feb. 21 at a home near Fontanet, about 60 miles west of Indianapolis. An autopsy determined he died of starvation.
