Bedford Unveils Renovated Downtown Depot

The City of Bedford held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for their renovated Downtown Depot Thursday.

The building used to be known as the Southern Indiana Railroad Station before it underwent a $2.7 million dollar relocation and restoration. The Depot was moved four blocks to its current location on the intersection of 14 th and J streets in Bedford.

The city worked in conjunction with the Indiana Stellar Communities program in order to bring the project to fruition.

The Downtown Depot was restored while keeping some of the original limestone and woodwork from 1899.

The city will use the space as a tourist and information center.
