When asked to host the Cat Video Festival, Buskirk-Chumley Theater didn't pause

Cat enthusiasts in the Bloomington area are pouncing on the opportunity to enjoy this Saturday's Cat Video Festival at Buskirk-Chumley Theater. The event will give a percentage of proceeds to the Monroe County Humane Association.

The cat videos come from people across the world. Other cat-related media, including animations and music videos, will be featured.

This event will be the theater’s first time presenting the festival, which shows across the U.S. and Europe.

Jonah Crismore, executive director of the theater, said about 150 tickets have been sold.

“It’s something that’s clicked, because it seems like people are really excited about it,” Crismore said.

The Monroe County Humane Association will receive 10 percent of ticket sales from the event. Representatives from the organization will be in the theater lobby with goodie bags and therapy cats to pet.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students.

Crismore said he could neither confirm nor deny if former Bloomington celebrity cat Lil BUB would be featured.
